After several weeks on the run, the suspect in a Surrey, B.C. shooting death was arrested in a Langley garage.

A charge of first-degree murder is pending against Barry McQuarrie, who was wanted on outstanding warrants for theft and driving and probation offences.

In May, Gregory Quesnelle, 32, was shot to death in a Surrey apartment. Investigators described it as a targeted attack related to an ongoing domestic dispute.

Police had issued an advisory for the public to watch for McQuarrie, 33, who was considered armed and dangerous.

McQuarrie, 33, reportedly called RCMP and a TV station to say he had no intention of turning himself in.

"This is a cat and mouse game. I’m not handing myself in to the cops because I’m not getting myself out when I get arrested. So they have to do their job and find me," said McQuarrie, according to CTV. “I want to enjoy the summer as much as I can. When the time comes after the summer is over, maybe I might hand myself in. If I make it that long.”

On Friday night, police found McQuarrie inside a residential garage. The home's owners were in "no way connected to Mr. McQuarrie and are relieved and grateful for the apprehension," said a news release from the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team.
