A new home renovation reality show is looking for Vancouver contestants, who get a shot at winning a house.

The show produced by Great Pacific Television pits teams of two against each other to renovate old houses.

The prize? The restored house — and everything in it.

"The show's about saving houses that are on the chopping block," producer Greg Thorpe told The Huffington Post B.C. in an email. "The idea came from finding out that thousands of houses get demolished in the Lower Mainland every year — good houses that still have decades of life in them."

Thorpe wants teams of two — couples, siblings, friends, co-workers, you name it — to take on an old house and breathe new life into it. While contestants should have a certain level of confidence when it comes to home renovation, professional experience isn't necessary. (In fact, professional interior designers and residential renovation tradespeople are not allowed to apply.)

"We're looking for those people that know how to wield a hammer ... and have a definite sense of home decor and style," Thorpe said. "We'll be asking people to treat this renovation as their 'job' for a few weeks, so they'll have to be able to move out of [their] home and take some time off work if necessary."

Filming will take place for six to eight weeks in Vancouver and Toronto during the summer of 2014. The show, which hasn't been given an official name yet, will pay contestants a small fee to cover expenses back home.

Interested? Email Thorpe at casting@greatpacifictv.com with a bit about you and your teammate, your experience with home renovation and design, and a photo. Good luck!
