Reports of an armed man prompted police to shut down a stretch of a busy downtown Toronto corridor Tuesday evening.
Spadina Avenue between College Street and Dundas Street remains closed to traffic in both directions. Toronto police’s Emergency Task Force are currently on scene.
Police say they responded to a report from a “very credible witness” of a man spotted with a rifle in the area, according to CP24.
Nearby resident Stephanie Broschart tweeted a photo of a SWAT team member stationed on her balcony.
While there has been no official confirmation of a gunman, police told HuffPost Canada the situation was “potentially dangerous.”
There have been no reports of gunfire.
This is a developing story. More to come.
