Thousands of people went to Queen’s Park Saturday to protest the Israel-Gaza conflict.
Both pro-Palestinian and pro-Israeli groups faced off, holding signs, chanting and expressing outrage over the ongoing violence that has claimed the lives of about 1,000 Palestinians and 43 Israelis.
Barricades were set up by Toronto Police, keeping the groups apart.
No arrests or injuries were reported.
Police were forced to close University Avenue for about an hour as Palestinian supporters marched down the street towards the U.S. consulate to demand that the U.S. take action while Israeli protesters remained at Queen’s Park.
Both camps departed shortly after 5 p.m.
