Toronto police have arrested a man they believe to be the “Mummy Bandit” — the notorious bank robber they have been searching for since October.
Police sources say a suspect was arrested in Toronto around 6 p.m. ET but are releasing no further details at this time, pending further investigation.
The Mummy Bandit is alleged to have robbed almost a dozen banks around Toronto since last year. Police allege he robbed two banks last month, including a brazen daytime robbery of a downtown Royal Bank.
Police have made several appeals for the public's help in identifying the suspect, who has sometimes worn disguises during his robberies, including one in which he wore a scarf wrapped tightly around his face.
