Police with the Deas Island Freeway Patrol arrested a man this weekend after he allegedly drove at speeds of up to 180km/h along Highway 91 in Delta and Richmond, B.C.

The man was behind the wheel of a white 2012 Mercedes C63, which was tracked by the RCMP's Air One helicopter over the Alex Fraser Bridge into Richmond just after 1:30 a.m. PT Sunday.

A camera in the helicopter recorded as he reached speeds of 150 to 160 km/hr. Just after 1:45 a.m., as he headed back on Highway 91 toward the bridge, he was stopped and taken into custody.

Cpl Robert McDonald said the driver was held in custody and was scheduled to be in court Monday.

Deas Island Freeway Patrol RCMP, which can be reached at  604-946-2184, would like to hear from any witnesses to the incident.
