Flames have destroyed a Ukrainian Orthodox church in Brampton.
The fire started at St. Elias the Prophet Church, located on Heritage Road north of Bovaird Drive West, after 7 a.m.
Photos from Twitter user Tash Reed show that the building was fully engulfed in flames by 8:10 a.m.
"There is practically nothing left," she wrote in a tweet less than 20 minutes later.
According to the church’s website, the building is “steeped in the Byzantine Ukrainian tradition of wooden architecture” and its structure consists of “heavy Douglas fir timbers sheathed in western red cedar.”
It was built in 1995.
