Halifax Mooseheads General Manager Cam Russell confirmed Saturday that star player and Tampa Bay Lightning prospect Jonathan Drouin is out indefinitely after suffering a mild concussion during Friday's game against the Quebec Ramparts.
Drouin was checked from behind by in a hard hit by Adam Erne in the first period. Drouin immediately left the ice and did not return.
Erne is also a prospect for Tampa Bay Lightning. He was chosen by the NHL team in the second round of the draft earlier this year.
The league will be reviewing the hit on Drouin. The video posted by Eastlink shows what happened.
Drouin is supposed to join Team Canada in a couple of weeks for the World Championships selection camp.
He was the third draft pick for the NHL this season. But his new team, the Tampa Bay Lightning, opted to send the 18-year-old back to the Q-league for one more year.
