If you want to head out to do something fun this weekend and you're not sure what's going on in Metro Vancouver, CBC Radio One's On The Coast has a few suggestions for you.
1. Midtown Experiment, Vancouver
East Broadway east Main Street is trying to boost its image as a stretch of road that is just as cool as the rest of Mount Pleasant.
The brand new Midtown Experiment runs from March 21-23 and includes artists on display, a community information fair, films and live music.
March 21-23, 585 E. Broadway at Carolina

2. Portobello West season opener, Vancouver
The popular local artisan and crafts show is back for the first weekend of spring.
Vendors are selling funky fashions, baby and kid items, accessories, candy and more. You can shop, shop, shop to your heart's content, and go home at the end of the day knowing you are putting money back into the local economy.
March 22-23, Creekside Community Centre, 1 Athletes Way

3. When It Rains, Burnaby
This award-winning production from Nova Scotia's 2b Theatre Company is a play in the form of a live-action graphic novel, which follows the lives of two couples.
There's singing, drama and dark satire and the show stands out for its visual theatrical illusion on stage.
March 19, Shadbolt Centre for the Arts, 6450 Deer Lake Avenue, Burnaby

4. Celebrations for Iranian New Year (Nowruz), Coquitlam
The feasting and fêting for Persian or Iranian New Year is now in full swing. Nowruz celebrates the re-birth of the earth.
Coquitlam's festivities feature the traditions of the new year, including a special table set with seven items starting with the letter "S," which symbolize a feature in our daily lives, such as health, prosperity, and peace of mind.
The event will also feature lots of music, dancing and performances.
Sunday, March 23, 2014, 1 - 7pm, Glen Park at Coquitlam

5. Nashville Hurricane, Vancouver
The Fringe Festival brings back Chase Padgett for his show Nashville Hurricane.
The one-man, one-guitar show tells the story of what happened to the fretboard phenomenon known as "The Nashville Hurricane."
I was a bit loath to put this on the list before getting tickets myself, because after seeing him at the Fringe last year in "6 Guitars" I was blown away. It was one of the best Fringe shows I've seen.
Until March 23, Performance Works, Granville Island, Vancouver

6. Getting outdoors!
The mountains are still dusted with snow, and it looks like we'll see some sun this weekend, so get out and enjoy the fresh air, the cherry blossoms and the budding trees, whether it's on the local mountains or at nearby parks.
That's where I'll be (after I check out the other 5 events on the list)!
