RCMP in Prince George are continuing to investigate, after an improvised explosive device was discovered on the main road to the University of Northern BC Tuesday night.
The device, which has now been destroyed, was found near a garbage can after police were called out to a report of shots fired in the area around 11:15 p.m. PT.
RCMP do not believe shots were actually fired, but suspect the noise may have come from another explosive device being set off.
Cpl. Craig Douglass says police are looking for a person seen riding a bike in the area around the time of the incident.
"Unfortunately we don't have much more detail than that. But certainly we would be interested in identifying and speaking to this person, and that would have been roughly about 11:15 last night."
A special RCMP team was flown in from Vancouver on Wednesday morning to destroy the device. The road was closed for several hours, and has since been re-opened. No one was injured.
