Family and friends of Carla Abogado, the 18-year-old struck and killed by an unmarked police vehicle last week, mourned her at her funeral Saturday as they still wait for answers.

Nastasha Carla Abogado, often called Carla, died Wednesday Feb. 12 after she was hit by a vehicle just after 8 p.m. at Warden Road and St. Clair Avenue East.

She was on her way home from work, just having stepped off a TTC bus.

The spot where she was hit is just steps away from the family home, where her parents had been calling her, worried that she was late.

Police have confirmed the vehicle involved in the accident was a Ford F-150 painted black with tinted windows and was being driven by an on-duty York Regional Police officer.

“I just want to say, I want justice for my daughter,” said Sonia Abogado at the funeral today.

People filled Our Lady of Fatima Catholic church this morning, many holding white signs reading "Justice for Carla Abogado."

The family is once again appealing for witnesses to come forward.

“She was a really sweet girl. She was nice to everyone," said Marissa Vastani, a friend. "She never excluded people. She was just a person you could always talk to.”

A black box inside the truck may reveal what happened and if speed was a factor.

“Whoever saw the incident, we need help," said Guillermo Abogado, Carla’s father. "We need help right now. We need the truth about this incident.”

The province's special investigations unit is still investigating.
