Northern Lights Pictures Taken In Vancouver Are Stunning (PHOTOS)

Natasha Wheatley is a photographer on a mission. The U.K.-born photographer, now based in Vancouver calls herself The Aurora Hunter, and specializes in images of the night sky.

No surprise then, that she was camera ready Tuesday night, when the Aurora Borealis came into view over Vancouver.

"I check the Aurora forecast every day and follow Aurora notification sites," Wheatley told The Huffington Post B.C. by email. "Around 10 p.m. the social media streams began to light up with images from northern U.S. states, always a good indicator that we will get them. Seeing them in my backyard however, was not what I was expecting!"

Her incredible images of the Northern Lights doing their insanely beautiful thing were taken between 11 p.m. and 2 a.m. around Vancouver and Burnaby. Wheatley traveled between Point Grey, the base of Burnaby Mountain and Barnet Marine Park for the long exposure shots — ranging from 10-30 seconds— taken with a Nikon D800.
