MONTREAL - The RCMP has filed criminal charges against two former senior SNC-Lavalin executives.

The Mounties say former executive vice-president Sami Abdallah Bebawi has been charged with fraud over $5,000; two counts of laundering proceeds of crime; four counts of possession of property obtained by crime; and with bribing a foreign public official.

RCMP Cpl. Lucy Shorey says the alleged offences occurred between 2001 and 2013.

She also says Stephane Roy, a former vice-president at SNC-Lavalin (TSX:SNC), has been charged with fraud over $5,000; bribing a foreign public official; and contravening a United Nations economic measures act related to Libya.

His alleged crimes occurred between 2008 and 2012.

The charges were laid in Montreal on Friday.

Bebawi's whereabouts are unknown and a warrant has been issued for his arrest, while Roy has received a summons to appear in court on March 5.
