Michael Buble won his fourth Grammy Award for best traditional pop album during the pre-telecast portion of the Grammys, which hands out 72 awards.

The Burnaby, B.C. superstar won for his album "To Be Loved," which went double-platinum in Canada and gold in the U.S. He now is on a Grammy-winning streak, having won for four of his last five albums. The new father, however, was not present to accept his award.

Michael Bublé told Billboard Magazine about his first win in 2007 for "Call Me Irresponsible."

"I was drunk at home by myself. I was nervous. I didn’t want to get caught up in it because I had lost before. I'd been on tour, working for a while, and I needed to be at home. I opened a bottle of wine and I heard them say my name. The first person I called was my mom and she screams, 'Oh, my God. You won.' It's one of those moments you definitely never forget. Winning is something that, no matter what happens through the inevitable ups and downs in this business, I will always be known as a GRAMMY winner. That's completely surreal, as I'm sure it is for everyone that wins. I’ve won three times and the story is the same each time. Once I found out I won in a hotel lobby. Another time I was on a train in Germany. This year I think I’ll show up."

He didn't. The singer was in Milan on his world tour.

But his fellow B.C. native Jennifer Gasoi, who now lives in Montreal, did and good thing she did as she won her first Grammy for "Throw a Penny in the Wishing Well" for best children's album, which was also Canada's first in the category.

“It’s about living your dreams, having the courage to step out of the box and take risks and live the life that you’re really meant to live. And I feel very proud to be doing that and I am grateful and honoured and blessed to be standing here before you,” Gasoi said in her acceptance speech.

“Oh my God. I’ve dreamt of this day for 20 years. It’s on my vision board. I'm officially the first Canadian to ever win a Grammy for best children's album. Thank you to all my supporters, my parents, my sister in the audience, all my friends, my fans, my beautiful musicians in Montreal."
