Nearly a week has passed since high-school teacher Jeffrey Boucher was first reported missing in Whitby, Ont., and police say they still don’t know what happened to him.

Boucher’s family called the Durham Regional Police Service to report him missing at 8:30 a.m. on Jan. 13.

The 52-year-old man is an avid runner and his family believed he had gone out for a morning run, but he didn't return. He has not been seen since.

Insp. Nick Lisi told reporters Sunday that over the past six days police had largely focused their efforts on a five-kilometre search radius, but extended the perimeter well beyond that in places where Boucher was known to run.

Lisi said that police "have not ruled out any possibilities as to what have might have happened to Jeffrey Boucher and we continue to do everything we can to locate him."

"We owe it to the family to keep looking," he added.

Lisi said that police are evaluating their search and investigative activities on a daily basis.

"We keep monitoring to see if there is any activity from [Jeffrey] Boucher, but at this time, we still do not have any concrete leads," he said.
