Babies don't usually talk until they're 12 to 18 months old. So just imagine Ted Moskalenko's shock when he heard his three-month-old son Ben mimic the words, "I love you" for the first time.
The New Jersey resident posted a video of the moment to his YouTube account on July 11. It shows him holding the baby and saying, "I love you" before Ben mimics the phrase back to him. Cue daddy's stunned expression.
Since it was posted, the video has received over 200,000 hits.
This isn't the first time we've seen a baby speak, or at least imitate such touching words at an early age. In 2009, lifestyle writer Crissy Page posted an adorable video to her own YouTube account that showed her two-month-old son Evan very nearly saying "I love you" on camera.
Healthychildren.org says that babies start imitating sounds at about three months old. They also start smiling at the sounds of their parents' voices.
Ontario's Ministry of Children and Youth Services says that at 12 months old, children often know how to use three or more words, and at 18 months, they can use at least 20.
So it looks to us like Ben is on his game.
