TORONTO — As the Pan Am Games enter their final weekend, organizers say they hope excitement for the international competition carries over to the Parapan Am Games.

More than 1,600 athletes are set to compete in 15 sports between Aug. 7 and 15, making these the largest Parapan Am Games ever held.

It's also the first time the Games will be broadcast on television.

The organizing committee says ticket sales are "robust" two weeks ahead of the event and the men's wheelchair rugby final is already sold out.

They expect wheelchair basketball will also prove popular.

All Parapan Am sports are qualifiers for next summer's Paralympic Games in Rio de Janeiro.
