In addition to three of his grandchildren (the children of his recently deceased son, Beau), and his wife, Dr. Jill Biden, he was also accompanied by Sasha Obama for the massive victory of 5-2 for their home team.

The vice-president made no bones about the U.S.'s wonderful relationship with Canada — likely only helped by the fact that we weren't playing them in the final:
The @VP was effusive, calling Canada "the most reliable, certain and consequential ally we have," he said.

And of course, his boss weighed in with an invitation to the White House for the team once victory was secured:
What a win for Team USA! Great game @CarliLloyd! Your country is so proud of all of you. Come visit the White House with the World Cup soon.

While Biden got to congratulate the women in person:

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Stephen Harper, who just finished up an appearance at Calgary's Stampede, was also in attendance, sitting next to Team Canada's Karina LeBlanc — with a sentiment that probably every Canadian would agree with, for once:
.@karinaleblanc I'm disappointed you're not playing too, but I couldn't ask for better company. #goalietalks pic.twitter.com/9Fo9jEYyt6

But we have to admit, we prefer LeBlanc's selfie angle:

A huge congratulations to Team U.S.A., and thank you Canada for an incredible tournament!
