CBC has replaced one of two senior managers who left the public broadcaster in the wake of the Jian Ghomeshi scandal.
Susan Marjetti, the managing director of CBC Toronto and the Ontario region, has been appointed to fill the position vacated by former radio executive Chris Boyce, the broadcaster announced Tuesday.
The corporation announced Boyce's departure, and that of human resources executive Todd Spencer, in April of this year, around the time a report was released that concluded that management had mishandled the behaviour of Ghomeshi, the former host of CBC Radio's arts and culture show q.
Ghomeshi was fired on Oct. 26, 2014, after executives saw what they described as graphic evidence that he had physically injured a woman.
"Susan's many contributions to CBC, and in particular to English radio, cannot be overstated," said Heather Conway, executive vice-president of CBC English Services. "Over the past three decades, she has strengthened our service as an award-winning journalist, as a programmer and leader, and as a champion of diversity."
Marjetti, who first joined the CBC in Halifax in 1988, will transition into the role of executive director of radio and audio over the summer.
"This is a tremendous opportunity, and I look forward to taking on the challenges that come with this new responsibility," said Marjetti. "I feel like my entire career has led me to this place."
Ghomeshi is currently facing faces five sexual assault charges and one charge of overcoming resistance by choking.
The charges against Ghomeshi, 47, stem from interactions with four women.
He is expected to go to trial next year.
