LETHBRIDGE, Alta. - A caregiver in southern Alberta has been sentenced to ten months in jail for defrauding a disabled woman out of more than $12,000.
Jacqueline Oler of Lethbridge pleaded guilty to one count of fraud over $5,000 in September.
Court heard while she was a caregiver with Lethbridge Family Services she was looking after a woman who's confined to a wheelchair.
Between March 2009 and January 2011 Oler wrote over 50 cheques to herself from the victim's account totalling just over $12,500.
She'll also be placed on probation for six months and has also been ordered to pay back all the money she stole.
