Former CBC meteorologist Claire Martin, familiar to viewers of "The National," is scheduled to announce that she's seeking a federal Green Party nomination in B.C.
The Green Party is holding a news conference on Wednesday in North Vancouver with Martin and leader Elizabeth May.
Born in England, Martin was named best weather presenter of the year three times by the International Weather Festival. She was the CBC's senior meteorologist for nine years, before she left the network in 2014 to become managing editor of Anaid Productions in Vancouver.
Conservative Andrew Saxton won the North Vancouver riding handily in the 2011 election, taking almost half of the votes. His Green Party rival received just over five per cent of the ballots.
Another former CBC personality, Jo-Anne Roberts, announced in January that she was seeking the Green Party nomination in Victoria for this year's federal election. Roberts resigned from the CBC after a decade hosting Radio One's "All Points West."
B.C. is a growing base of support for the Green Party since May won her seat in Saanich-Gulf Islands in 2011.
