NEW WESTMINSTER, B.C. - A 16-year-old boy charged in connection with a fatal baseball-bat attack in New Westminster, B.C., has been denied bail.
But a ban prevents the publication of details that were released in court and are related to the tragic death of 19-year-old Karim Meskine of Surrey.
The boy is charged with second-degree murder in the Dec. 17 assault that left Meskine unconscious on a sidewalk.
He died in hospital three days after the attack, which is believed to have been unprovoked.
Police have said the Crown has applied to have the suspect sentenced as an adult if he is convicted.
The accused is scheduled to return to court on Jan. 29 (News1130)
