The Toronto Transit Commission (TTC) tweeted the following at 5:30 p.m. ET:
UPDATE: 504 King route holding westbound on King at University, due to a security incident on board a streetcar. #TTC
— Official TTC Tweets (@TTCnotices) November 20, 2014
That tweet was soon followed by this one, in which the user said the streetcar had been stopped due to "sexual activity."
Stuck in streetcar at King and York for 20 minutes the driver announces reason for delay. "Sexual activity". http://t.co/PzKkiiIKTc
— Robin Lobb (@RobinLobb) November 20, 2014
The TTC later tweeted to say that service was back to normal.
ALL CLEAR: The delay at King and University has cleared. 504 King has returned to regular routing. #TTC
— Official TTC Tweets (@TTCnotices) November 20, 2014
But Robin Lobb's wasn't the only tweet to suggest some TTC passengers were carrying out a sex act on public transit.
Twitter user Adam Owen said he was on the streetcar when the alleged act took place. He said it was a "handjob."
I was on handjob streetcar AMA
— Adam Owen (@owenadam) November 20, 2014
Guys I was on the handjob streetcar. It was great. Met the neighbours. Had a laugh about some ding-dong showing off his ding-dong
— Adam Owen (@owenadam) November 20, 2014
Toronto Sun reporter Don Peat later tweeted what the TTC told him about the incident.
#TTC tells me a rider told a King streetcar driver that a couple was "engaged in some activity of a sexual nature" at Yonge & King #TOpoli
— Don Peat (@reporterdonpeat) November 20, 2014
The couple "engaged in some activity of a sexual nature" left the King streetcar before #TTC supervisor arrived #TOpoli

Meanwhile, Newstalk 1010 spoke with TTC spokesman Brad Ross, who said the incident was only reported, not confirmed.
Just spoke with @bradTTC re: alleged #TorontoStreetCarSex incident on 504 car. Says it's just a report - not confirmed.
— NEWSTALK1010 (@newstalk1010) November 21, 2014
The alleged act nevertheless spawned a hashtag, #TorontoStreetcarSex, in which users made a series of crude jokes.

504 Coxwell, please call Control. #TorontoStreetcarSex
— Brad Koegler (@oytamarind) November 20, 2014
Even Brad Ross himself seems to have weighed in on the incident, though he could have just been talking about a TTC town hall which was to take place Thursday night.
The annual #TTCtownhall is about to get underway. Send us your tweets. And for the record, every streetcar in Toronto is named Desire.
— Brad Ross (@bradTTC) November 21, 2014
Here's a collection of tweets under the hashtag, #TorontoStreetcarSex:
It's not the first time that people have been reported carrying out sexual activity on Toronto's public transit system.
In 2011, a couple was caught having sex on a subway car before they continued on the platform at Spadina subway station, the Toronto Sun reported.
