Hillary Clinton has an important announcement to make: she's a new grandmother.
Former First Daughter Chelsea Clinton welcomed her first child with husband Marc Mezvinsky on Friday, at 7:03 p.m., and broke the news via her Twitter and Facebook pages. "Marc and I are full of love, awe and gratitude as we celebrate the birth of our daughter, Charlotte Clinton Mezvinsky,” wrote Clinton.
Charlotte was born at Lenox Hill Hospital, in Manhattan, according to ABC News.
Clinton, who appeared at a Clinton Foundation panel discussion on Tuesday, kept both the baby's gender and due date a secret from the public, but announced that she and Mezvinsky were expecting in April.
"My husband and I decided we would enjoy this mystery for, you know, the nine-plus months that we were granted," said Clinton to CNN's Fareed Zakaria on Tuesday. "We are eager to find out what God will have given us."
New grandparents former president Bill Clinton and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton revealed they were overjoyed by their new delivery, telling PEOPLE Magazine:
Hillary has not kept her excitement under wraps, even telling the magazine "I want to babysit any chance I can get" back in June.
The two political titans also expressed their cheerful sentiments over Twitter, sharing photos and writing:
Though Hillary has stayed mum about her possible 2016 presidential campaign, the former First Lady had previously said she will wait until becoming a grandparent before making her decision. As for the littlest Clinton, she will not be eligible to follow in her family's footsteps and run for president until 2052, due to a proviso that requires all candidates to be over the age of 35.
Congratulations, Chelsea and Marc!
