Members of Canada's junior national baseball team received a warm welcome at Toronto's Pearson International Airport Thursday after Hurricane Odile delayed their homecoming.
The team was in Mexico for the Under-18 Pan American Championship.
The team had just rallied to win a bronze medal when remnants of Hurricane Odile pounded northern Mexico.
"We originally got hit by one hurricane at our hotel, so we had to move out," said player Darren Shred at the airport. "Then we were going to get hit by another hurricane, so we had to get evacuated by the Mexican military."
After days of waiting, the team and their coaches boarded a military jet to Tijuana, Mexico. From there, they took a bus to Los Angeles and then a plane home to Canada.
After the long journey, some of the players headed straight to Tournament 12 at the Rogers Centre. It's the second annual tournament for pro scouts and college recruiters to check out young Canadian talent.
