Northern Lights Vancouver Didn't Happen. Sad Face.

Despite much anticipation, the northern lights failed to make an appearance in the Vancouver area.

Experts advised going to areas with a clear northern horizon, away from light pollution for the best chance of spotting the magical aurora borealis. That meant crowds flocking to Burnaby Mountain Park, Pitt Lake, Iona Beach in Richmond, and Porteau Cove in the wee hours of the night/morning.

Reddit user omega_point posted this shot of the throngs on Burnaby Mountain at 1 a.m.:



Alas, no show in the sky emerged.

Even professional northern lights photographer Yuichi Takasaka went home empty-handed from atop Silver Star Mountain in Vernon. "It seems to have run out of energy in Europe. (Crying)," he said in a Twitter update.
