Leave it to Secretary of State John Kerry and Snoop Dogg to become friends with ease.
Snoop Dogg posted a short video of the two sharing a fist bump to his Instagram account Thursday. According to TIME, the exchange was from an early December gathering at the White House for the 2013 Kennedy Center honorees.
The clip's audio appears to show the two discussing jazz legend Herbie Hancock, who was one of the key stars receiving awards. Mediaite notes Snoop Dogg performed a rap called “Cantaloop (Flip Fantasia)," which was a spinoff of Hancock's "Cantaloupe Island"
“He invented your whole thing,” Kerry says of Hancock in the clip, prompting Snoop Dogg to agree that Hancock "invented hip hop.”
The rest is history. Watch the fist bump below.
With the video out in the open, Snoop Dogg and Kerry followed up by exchanging pleasantries on Twitter.
