Five people have been taken to hospital after a car lost control going down a steep grade on Oxford Street Wednesday afternoon in White Rock around 3:15 p.m. PT.
B.C. ambulance says one of the accident victims is in critical condition.
Paramedics say a vehicle containing a mother, her child and a teenage nanny hit at least one car at the bottom of the hill.
The out-of-control car crashed into a metal guard rail and ended up on its roof by the seawall.
Witness Dave Reiffer says he first realized something was wrong when he heard a strange noise.
"I looked over to see a car flying through the air, bounce off the Beemer and hit the guard rail. It just kind of went airborne and flipped over," he said.
An air ambulance was used to take two of the accident victims to Royal Columbian Hospital including the person in critical condition, according to B.C. Ambulance. Five ground ambulances were also called.
Three patients were transported to Peace Arch Hospital in White Rock.
