If the rumours are to be believed, the next big overseas trip undertaken by the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge (a.k.a. Prince William and Kate Middleton) could be to China.
According to The Sunday Times, sources revealed that Kensington Palace is considering sending the couple to China in 2015 as a way to smooth relations between the eastern nation and the U.K..
In particular, comments that were made public from Prince Charles' diary in 2006, calling Chinese officials "appalling old waxworks" and the "ridiculous rigmarole" of meeting then Chinese President Jiang Zemin, are still top of mind for both countries.
The Prince of Wales has tried to mend fences before, launching his charity The Prince's Charities Foundation (China) in 2009, but his relationship with the Dalai Lama (who he's met several times) has also been an issue.
According to a Kensington Palace spokesperson, "Next year's tours for the Duke and Duchess are currently being considered, discussed and assigned. They will be announced in due course."
Considering the couple's upcoming engagement to open Oxford University's China Centre Building on Sept. 8, the announcement would have almost perfect timing.
It has not been mentioned whether or not Prince George will join them on the tour.
