A Barrie, Ont., man is accused of punching a woman, spitting on another woman and assaulting three other people in a series of events that unfolded in and around a local nightclub on Saturday.
Barrie police were called to a Dunlop Street nightclub in the early hours of Saturday morning.
According to a police news release, an officer attempted to arrest the 23-year-old man, but he got away.
A foot chase then took place.
Police say some off-duty Canadian Forces members helped the officers chase down the suspect.
The accused faces five counts of assault, a charge of resisting arrest and one count of escaping lawful custody.
Police say the man was held "until he was sober." He is due to appear in court at a future date.
