Toronto police arrested a man in his 30s on Sunday after three overnight fires that are suspected to be arson.
The first incident happened at a house on Richard Clark Drive, near Jane Street and Wilson Avenue, at 1:48 a.m. Three fire trucks and 16 firefighters responded to a vehicle fire. The damage is estimated at $15,000.
Shortly after, another vehicle fire around the corner on Calais Avenue was reported. At 2 a.m. three firetrucks and 14 firefighters responded to the call. It is unclear what the cost of the damage is.
At 2:24 a.m., a fire truck and four firefighters responded to a bush fire, a block away on Canton Avenue. It was reported that someone was lighting a fire in the woods at the back of the house.
The Ontario Fire Marshal's Office have been notified for all three incidents.
Police said the man who was arrested lives in the area of the arson incidents. They did not release any other information.
Police are expected to issue a release Sunday afternoon.
Two weeks ago, three car fires were also reported in the same area. Three cars parked in driveways on different streets were set on fire. Police said in each case, something was placed under the car.
