A fruit picker who went missing for several days in B.C.'s Okanagan has been found — and he has quite the story to tell.

Julien Landry, who is from Quebec, went hiking in Summerland after dinner on Aug. 13 and was reported missing two days later.

It turns out a bear chased Landry up a tree, where he fell asleep, said RCMP Const. Jacques Lefebvre on Tuesday. While asleep, he fell out of the tree and landed on rocks in the creek below, according to Vernon InfoTel News.

Landry hurt his back and suffered a concussion. He believes he was unconscious for about a day before crawling out of the area, reported Castanet.

RCMP held a search over the weekend that included helicopters, planes, and a Search and Rescue team, said InfoTel.

A man walking his dog found Landry on Sunday, five days after he left for his hike.

"The whole story sounds so far fetched and no one could invent this," Lefebvre told Castanet.

Landry is recovering in a Kelowna hospital.
