A 33-year-old pilot is dead after crashing the Cessna he was flying around La Minerve, in the Laurentians.
The downed plane was found in the woods at approximately 3 p.m. ET Saturday, more than an hour after a witness on the ground noticed the plane was experiencing trouble and called 911.
Mélanie Dumaresq of the Sûreté du Québec said crews searched for the plane by land and air, finally finding it in an isolated and densely wooded area.
The victim was transported to hospital, where his death was confirmed. He was the sole person aboard the Cessna.
The SQ has opened an investigation to determine the cause of the crash. The Canadian Transportation Safety Board has also been alerted to the incident.
