Toronto police are searching for a “dangerous” suspect in what investigators are calling a case of attempted murder.

Early Friday morning, a man went to a house in the area of Bathurst Street and College Street West.

Police say he got into an argument with another man inside the home and took a handgun out of his bag.

The assailant then "pointed the firearm and shot the male," Toronto police said in a Friday news release.

Emergency services received a call about the incident around 2:30 a.m, said Dave Viljak, a deputy commander with Toronto EMS.

He said paramedics transported a "young adult male" to hospital in serious condition. The victim had suffered a single gunshot wound, Viljak said.

Nerville Ferdinand, 19, of Toronto, is wanted in connection with the non-fatal shooting.

Police are asking the public for assistance in locating Ferdinand. Investigators have issued the media a photo of the suspect and describe him as:

- Five feet, seven inches tall.

- 160 lbs.

- With a short Afro haircut and brown eyes.

Police urge members of the public who spot Ferdinand not to approach him and to instead call 911.

"He is considered armed and dangerous."
