An attempt to break the Guinness World Record for "Largest Sculpting Lesson Ever Conducted" is just one of the many events to check out this weekend:

World Record Attempt

July 5 Centreville Island

For the event and record-breaking attempt, the plan is for each participant to sculpt a Wanda's Creative Clay character by molding oven-bake Sculpey clay. The event is in support of Eden's Angels, named for Eden Worth. She was diagnosed with brain cancer at age 5. Despite the challenges, she lived a full life until her death just prior to her 13th birthday. Sculpting with clay was one of Eden's favourite activities.

For more information, check out the event's fundraising website.

True Patriot Soul on the Plaza

July 3 Gardiner Museum

Celebrate American Independence Day like a Canadian! The Soul Motivators, Toronto's 10-piece live funk unit, meets Do Right Music's label boss DJ John Kong. Access to the Gardiner Museum's gallery of Contemporary Ceramic Art is included.

Toronto Fringe Festival

July 2 - July 13 Various Locations

Lwam is Eritrea's Greatest Hockey Player is one of many shows on offer. Here's the blurb: As a lawyer Lwam has fought for the underdog. As a son of Eritrean immigrants he is fascinated by developments in Eritrea. As an actor he stumbled into a war on the arts, appearing on the cover of the Toronto Sun with the labels "terrorist" and "devil". Through storytelling and comedy, he weaves together these and other experiences, creating humour and hope.

Toronto Outdoor Art Exhibition

July 4 - July 6 Nathan Phillips Square

The Toronto Outdoor Art Exhibition is Toronto's first, largest, and longest running outdoor art fair - providing fresh art, fresh faces, in the fresh air since 1961. Attracting an audience of over 100,000 people annually, and showcasing the work of over 350 artists, the Toronto Outdoor Art Exhibition prides itself on creating an environment which gives artists the chance to interact directly with the public in an informal setting - removing the barriers to access, and dispelling the formality of a traditional gallery or art fair experience.
