Despite the turmoil between B.C. teachers and the provincial government, a new report has ranked B.C.'s education system as the best in Canada.
Ontario and Alberta placed second and third respectively in education and skills, according to a report by The Conference Board of Canada's research program How Canada Performs.
The report helps identify where Canada sits on the global scale in various aspects of quality of life, including the economy, environment, health, and education and skills.
While the annual report cards always rank Canada against its leading international peers, this year they decided to see how individual provinces stack up. B.C. placed third overall, just behind global leaders Japan and Finland.
This news comes during the heat of a province-wide teachers' strike that has seen more than 40,000 educators walk out in demand of more classroom support.
