Toronto police are asking for the public’s help investigating the theft of a dog near Sunnybrook Park.

According to investigators, a woman and her dog were at Bayview Avenue and Blythwood Road on June 5 at 1 p.m. ET, to meet a man who had identified himself on Kijiji, a free classified ads site, as a professional dog trainer.

After a short conversation, the man grabbed the dog and ran, getting away in a navy-blue pickup truck, which was waiting nearby.

The dog is a five-month old, male, black Cane Corso with a white chest patch.

The dog thief is described as brown-skinned, six feet tall, between 25 and 30 years old, with short dark hair and possible acne scars. He was wearing dark clothing.

Anyone with information is asked to contact 53 Division at 416-808-5300, or contact Crime Stoppers anonymously at 416-222-TIPS (8477) or www.222tips.com.

The Toronto area has seen other recent dog-nappings. In March a three-month-old puppy was stolen at gunpoint near Jane Street and Weston Road. Two months later, a 10-week-old puppy was stolen from a Whitby, Ont., residence during a home invasion.
