B.C. shoppers are on the hunt for Black Friday deals on both sides of the border this morning, after Canadian retailers decided to try to attract the shoppers with some deals of their own.
The Friday after the U.S. Thanksgiving has become a draw for cross-border shoppers in recent years because of massive price discounts offered by U.S. retailers. Some U.S. retailers even remained open overnight Thursday in order to maximize sales.
But this year many Canadian retailer are offering Black Friday deals as well, and that meant smaller crowds at U.S. retail outlets in Bellingham this morning.
Meanwhile at Metrotown Mall in Burnaby, hundreds of shoppers turned up before 7 a.m. PT hoping to pick up some free gift cards.
