CHARLOTTETOWN - Atlantic Canada's health ministers say there are opportunities for the provinces to work together to improve health care.
The ministers met this week in Charlottetown where they discussed potential areas of co-operation.
P.E.I. Health Minister Doug Currie says the four provinces share similar challenges and can collaborate on ways to enhance access to care for patients.
Currie and his Atlantic counterparts agreed to work together on strategies to improve wait times and deal with rising health-care costs, including exploring funding partnerships with the federal government.
Prince Edward Island will host a summit on drug costs this fall.
The government says increasing the use of generic versions of brand-name drugs could save Atlantic taxpayers tens of millions of dollars.
