A Moncton, N.B., man charged with threatening to kill police officers has been ordered not to have contact with the suspect in the shooting deaths of three Mounties last week.

Jasper John Stam, 25, appeared in Moncton provincial court on Monday and was charged with uttering threats to cause death to peace officers between May 10 and 18.

The charges are not related to the ongoing investigation of shootings last week that left three Mounties dead and two injured in Moncton, RCMP spokesman Paul Greene said in an email to CBC News.

Stam was ordered to have no contact with JustinBourque, the suspect in the Mountie shootings.

Bourque, 24, was arrested early Friday and charged with three counts of first-degree murder and two counts of attempted murder in connection with the shootings.

Stam was remanded in custody. He is scheduled to return to court on Wednesday at 9:30 a.m.
