Two people in Ville-Émard are dead in a possible murder-suicide.
Police received a call early Saturday morning after the body of a man in his 40s was discovered near the Lachine Canal.
“The first one was a passerby who called 911 because he had seen a dead body. Police officers located there a man and also some other evidence that leads us to an apartment in Ville-Émard,” said Const. Danny Richer of the Montreal police.
There, in a home on Briand Street near Jolicoeur Street, police found the body of a woman in her 50s.
“The investigation led us to the inside of an apartment located on Briand Street where the body of a woman was discovered and she was injured by a sharp object. Both deaths were pronounced on the scene,” Richer said.
Police suspect the two deaths are related.
This event marks the city's 10th homicide of 2014.
