York Regional Police are searching for a 24-year-old suspect after one man was killed and another injured in a shooting in Vaughan Friday night they are calling a “targeted killing.”

Police were called to a cafe on Woodstream Boulevard in the area of Highway 7 and Martin Grove Road at 6:43 p.m. Friday regarding reports of shots fired.

Two adult men were found with gunshot wounds, according to police. One man died at the scene and the other was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

The victim has been identified as Sarhad Sadiq, 36, of Nobleton. The identity of the injured victim is not being released, police say.

The suspect has been identified as David Odesho, 24, of Toronto. He is wanted for first-degree murder and attempted murder.

He's also considered armed and dangerous. He was seen fleeing the scene in a white 2012 Mazda 3 -- four-door car.

Anyone with information regarding his whereabouts is urged not to approach him, but to call 911 immediately.

Previous shootings

"We believe there were a fair amount of witnesses in the area," Police spokesman Sgt. Clint Whitney  said, adding witnesses can either contact the York Regional Police homicide unit or leave tips anonymously at CrimeStoppers.

Two other deadly shootings have hit the community in recent months.

A man — later revealed to have alleged Mafia links — was shot dead in April just a few blocks from the scene of Friday night’s shooting. Another man was shot and killed in May, outside a HomeSense store.

Both cases were found to be separate, targeted killings, Whitney said.

"The victims were specifically targeted — not random, not gang related in the sense of street gangs."
