A father and his 25-year-old son from Alberta are missing after their small plane failed to arrive in Tofino, B.C., on the west coast of Vancouver Island Saturday.
Capt. Ray Jacobson, with the Joint Rescue Coordination Centre in Victoria, said the search Sunday morning is focused in the Tofino area.
RCMP searchers are on the ground on nearby Vargas Island, and a Canadian Forces Cormorant helicopter from Comox is searching from the air.
The search began Saturday afternoon, but bad weather and nightfall hampered the effort.
Jacobsen said the plane, a Cessna 421, is registered to an Edmonton company.
No beacon signal is being detected.
