Parts of Yonge Street and Fort York Boulevard will be closed Sunday for the 10-kilometre Sporting Life run, while the TTC shutters intersections along Queen Street East.
The run will shut down Yonge Street from Lawrence Avenue to Erskine Avenue between 5 a.m. and 10:30 a.m., and Fort York Boulevard until about 1 p.m.
Vehicles will be allowed to pass major intersections before 11 a.m., if deemed safe by police officers on duty. Expect the longest delays between 8:30 a.m. and 11 a.m.
Some 27,000 runners are expected to turn out in in support of Camp Oochigeas, a summer camp for children affected by cancer.
Elsewhere, three intersections along Queen Street East will be closed over the next two months as the TTC works on the streetcar tracks and switches. Expect closures at:
- Queen Street East and Leslie Street, May 11 to June 21
- Queen Street East and Victoria Avenue, May 11-31
- Queen Street East and Broadview, June 30 to July 25
The TTC will divert the 501 Queen and 504 King streetcars, and says it will provide more buses along Queen between Coxwell Avenue and River Street.
The TTC released a short video explaining the closures.
