Cpl. Ron Francis turned over his RCMP uniforms and gear to two colleagues from J Division in New Brunswick last evening, after he was videotaped smoking medicinal marijuana while on the job .
The 21-year veteran Mountie was ordered to turn over his RCMP apparel after he was videotaped in his dress red serge smoking marijuana. He still has his badge and remains a Mountie, but is on medical leave.
Francis has a prescription for marijuana to deal with the post-traumatic stress disorder that he says is a result of his work. He believes he should be able to smoke medicinal marijuana while in uniform.
Francis was clearly distraught when fellow RCMP officers arrived at his home Thursday evening to collect his uniforms and gear.
The scene was videotaped by Francis's cousin, and Francis provided a copy of it to CBC. It contains strong language.
