Four people have been rescued after spending nine hours stranded on a snowmobile trail in southeastern New Brunswick.
The young adults had taken their truck off-roading in Second North River, a rural area outside of Moncton, and got stuck on Sunday night, RCMP Cpl. Philippe Cyr said in a news release on Tuesday.
One of them was a diabetic without any insulin, he said.
They managed to call police for help at about 8:30 p.m. AT using a cellphone, Cyr said, but rough terrain and poor visibility due to weather prevented emergency personnel from reaching them.
Two local towing companies were able to get to them, however, and towed their truck out at 5 a.m. on Monday.
All four individuals were examined and released at the scene without injuries, said Cyr.
"The RCMP is reminding people who plan on going off-roading to be prepared," he said.
"It is important to plan ahead and make sure to have emergency supplies such as water, a first aid kit, cell phone chargers, maps, signalling devices and any medications on hand."
