BOWDEN, Alta. - An inmate's escape from a central Alberta prison was short-lived.
RCMP say Maurice Rondeau is back in custody at Bowden Institution after a short run to freedom Sunday night.
Rondeau, who is 64, was unaccounted for when guards made their rounds around 4:30 p.m.
RCMP Staff Sgt. Chris Matechuk says Rondeau was found by officers with sniffer dogs near a farmer's field about 10 p.m.
Police say Rondeau, who is serving a three-year sentence for sexual interference, will face additional charges in the escape.
Assistant warden John McKill declined to provide any details about how the inmate got away.
