David Onley looks back on time as lieutenant governor

It’s been six and a half years since David Onley was named Ontario’s lieutenant-governor, making him the first person with a disability to hold the vice-regal post.


Now about to conclude his term, the author and former broadcast journalist talked with CBC Toronto’s Dwight Drummond, looking back on his accomplishments at Queen’s Park and his early struggles to simply find work.


“There are precious few jurisdictions in the world where somebody who had adversity like I did in my early life would be able not only to aspire to a position like this, but actually have it happen,” Onley said.
