If you're stumped for what to do on the weekend, we've got our eye on a few events to check out.
1. Blue Jays Home Opener Viewing Party, Vancouver
On the Coast is debating whether Vancouver should be loyal to the Blue Jays as the only major league Canadian team, or the Mariners, as the closer team.
Well, if you're a Jays fan (and I will profess my bias here), you can watch them with some fellow fans at Mahony and Sons near the Vancouver Convention Centre.
Friday April 4, 3:30 p.m. PT to 8 p.m. PT, 1055 Canada Place.
2. South African Film Festival, Vancouver
Now in its fourth year, the VSAFF explores culture, politics and history of South Africa through film.
The festival this year features 'Felix,' which was at the Vancouver International Film Festival last year, and 'Of Good Report,' one of the most talked about films of 2013 in South Africa.
April 5-6, Goldcorp Centre, SFU Woodwards
3. Fleetwood Family Fun Run, Surrey
Now that it's spring, it's time to start training for the running season! For some people, it's running season all year round in Metro Vancouver. This family-friendly 2 km or 4 km run can help the kids get their marathon careers started early.
April 5, Surrey, Fleetwood Park, 15802 - 80th Avenue
4. Artisan Fair, New Westminster
The Spring Showers artisan fair is the first for the season in the River Market at Westminster Quay. The Royal City Farmers Market will also be going on at the same time so make sure to check it out. It's an easy ride on the Skytrain to see local, handmade and homegrown goods, from jewelry to photography to food.
April 5, River Market at Westminster Quay, New Westminster
5. Verses Festival of Words, Vancouver
Performance and words come together for this festival, which celebrates verse that is written, spoken or sung. The festival includes the Canadian Individual Slam Championship featuring some of the country's most promising slam poets. Performances include Ivan E. Coyote and Rae Spoon.
April 5-12, various locations near Commercial Drive, Vancouver
6. Bryan Ferry, Vancouver
The English singer and songwriter is known for re-working standards such as The Jazz Age and As Time Goes By.
He's in Vancouver and will be bringing his smashing sense of style with him on stage, along with Dawn Landes.
You'll hear tunes well-suited to the Roxy Music fan.
April 5, Queen Elizabeth Theatre, Vancouver
