Jimmy Kimmel Compares Rob Ford To JFK

Leave it to Jimmy Kimmel, Rob Ford superfan, to draw a comparison between Toronto’s infamous mayor and John F. Kennedy.

Yes, you read that right.

Kimmel, who happened to be watching the city’s first televised mayoral debate on Wednesday, took to Twitter to criticize the decorum of Ford’s challengers: Olivia Chow, David Soknacki, Karen Stintz, and John Tory.

The debate, moderated by CityNews anchor Gord Martineau, quickly got out of hand as candidates interrupted each other and ignored time limits to take swipes at Ford's political record.

Ford's personal problems – including his crack cocaine scandal and multiple videos of the mayor caught in various states of inebriation – were mostly ignored until Chow made a passing reference to the mayor's troubles near the end of the 90-minute debate.

“We've had it with the scandals and lack of truth. It’s time to go because you’re embarrassing our city,” lobbed Chow.

“People have heard the story," responded Ford. "It’s rewind, rewind, rewind."

As for that arguable comparison of Ford to former U.S. president John F. Kennedy, it isn't the first time the reference has been made.

In February, Toronto Star reporter and "Crazy Town" author Robyn Doolittle joked on "The Daily Show" that the Ford family likely thinks of themselves as “the Canadian Kennedys.”

Laughing, host Jon Stewart responded to the comparison by saying, “Like they’re the Kennedys if the Kennedys had all smoked crack.”

Kimmel wasn't the only talk show host who had Rob Ford on his mind on Wednesday. "Tonight Show" host Jimmy Fallon sent out a request via Twitter for photos of babies who resemble Ford.

Toronto voters head to the polls on Oct. 27.
